Payday is my frienemy!

Ooopsy I may have just spent a small fortune on make-uppy goodness!!!
As one of those 'I like it so I'll buy it' girls I have had my eye on a gorgeous make-up case by Laura Mercier since the Easter weekend. It all started in John Lewis in Exeter and ended in Peter Jones on Kings Road in London, I have been waiting for this payday. And it finally arrived and I am now in make-up heaven!!! ooooh and Peter jones had a 10% off day so even betterrr.

I was super excited to get home and sort out my new make-up bag, I felt like a 10 year old again excited about filling up a new pencil case although working in a stationary shop the idea of new stationary also excites me too. So I got back to my room and poured all my make up on to my bed and sorted out the sections, and this is how it goes...

So the make-up bag is divided in to three seperate sections inside, two of the sections are magnetic so can be used as small make up bags individually and then the third section is for make-up brushes.

My section one...
I have filled this with all my more expensive make-up pallets that I like to keep neat and tidy. So I have all my Bobbi Brown, Mac and Estee Lauder concealers and eyeshadows in there. These are like my prized possessions so I want them kept separate and neat.

My second section...
Is filled with all of my everyday make-up so that I can pull this magnetic section out pop it into my hand bag to take to work or uni which is super handy. I have my everyday Rimmel 'wake me up' foundation which I am loving at the moment in here along with a benefit erase paste and some Topshop make-up which is amazing. (this has made me think of a new blog post)

The third section...
Has my most used make-up brushes on one side such as three Real Techniques brushes which are amazing, my first ever Mac make-up brush and then a couple of everyday brushes. On the other side I have all of my stick-type make-ups, such as mascara, eyeshadow primer, eyeliner and stick lipsticks.

I am in LOVE with this and hopefully it will prove a really good investment purchase.

I have also brought a number of new products throughout April and will be doing an April favourites at some point, but also a blog on the products I have not been a fan of recently/ ever.

As the sun is finally shining I say you all slap on some suncream because I believe this is the best beauty product of them all and enjoy this gorgy weather!!

Bobbi Brown review...

Well we had a few days of sun over the weekend but again it has started to hide away again, but I hear that on Sunday we should get some nice weather. So its time to get out the spring fashion out, and I have been loving the spring makeup for 2013 and I have been trying out the looks one by one.

Today I am reviewing my new favourite skin care and makeup regime for the under eye. I suffer from bags under the eye and have been looking for something to counter act this for a while. I have tried a number of products, I have used normal stick concealers, Garnier BB cream under eye roll on and benefit erase paste. I had hoped that the benefit erase paste would fix my problem but after a number of months I have come to the conclusion it doesn't work for me as it is too oily for my skin. Although I do use it as a face concealer and it works well to cover blemishes. So I recently ventured to the Bobbi Brown counter for some advice and found something that so far has worked pretty well.

Step number one...
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream.
This is applied both morning and night after cleansing the face. I apply this using my ring finger gently under the eye, it works well the hydrate the underneath of the eye and then as a primer before applying concealer.

Step number two...
Bobbi Brown Corrector in the colour Light Bisque.
This is a pale skin colour which corrects the dark circles under the eye. Concealer applied straight to the  dark eyes will not correct the colour as the darkness is still there, so this works well to correct the darkness so that the concealer can cover up the darkness as well as possible.

Step number three...
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit in the colour Warm Ivory.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!! It has two sides to the kit, one with a cream concealer and then the other a light powder. The cream concealer is a lovely product which applies really well onto the skin and only small amount is needed and after the previous steps it cover the dark circles as well as possible. Once I feel I have enough coverage I will apply the rest of the makeup. And before I apply my general face powder I apply the light power under the eye to set the concealer.

I absolutely love this three set regime but I must say that it is quite expensive and if I weren't a makeup fanatic I probably wouldn't spend this sort of money on concealer. I think it is a case of trial and error to find the best product for you, as always high street brands make work better for you than high end.

Lets have a lovely sunny weekend and smiles all round.

March Favourites.

Usually March is filled with sunshine (well sometimes) baby bunnies & lambs. All things spring like, not this year. I have decided we are entering the ice age, we shall all hang about with sloths and mammoths forever. As March has been miserable and cold my beauty favourites have very much been spring smells and colours so I can brighten up my days.

My number one beauty favourite for the month of March has been (drum roll please)...
Laura Mercier fresh fig hand creme.
This is now my all-time favourite hand cream along with my favourite scent. It is light to apply and doesn't have that claustrophobic feeling you can sometimes get from hand cream. I have been applying before bed and it has been working wonders on my dry hands. And like I say it smells divine, its fresh and fruity and just all round loveliness in a tube.

My number two is...
The Body Shop body butter duo in sweet pea.
This duo is fabulous for all over the body, with the denser cream for dry skin areas such as knees and elbows it works into the skin without feeling heavy and the normal light body butter is perfect for normal skin areas. This product really is the perfect body butter, the sweet pea scent is also nice as it is very light and fruity.

My number three is...
Maybelline super stay 14hr lipstick.
I brought this lipstick in two colours a light pink called Neverending Pink and a purple called Mauve Toujours. I really love the pink and have been wearing it as an everyday lip colour, its such a spring like colour that I have been using it to brighten my days. I wore the purple on a night out but I think the colour is just a little to dark for me. This lipstick has fantastic stay power but there is no way that they last for 14 hours.

My number four is...
L'Oreal Paris voluminous mascara.
I have been looking for the perfect mascara and have tried what feels like every single high-street mascara ever with no luck, but this is amazing. It does exactly what I want; volume WITHOUT any clumps. And I think this may be my top mascara.

My number five is...
Sally Hansen insta-dri anti-chip top coat nail varnish.
If you love painting your nails but are as impatient as me you will love this. It is a great alternative to other quick dry nail varnish treatments such as OPI. It drys your nails in 30 seconds to touch and then a up to five minutes to to do tasks. There are some downsides to this product such as your nails can still catch and sometimes they are not as dry as you thought but it does them drier much quicker.

Those are all my March beauty favourites. Lets hope the snow subsides and we can enjoy a beautiful April filled with sunshine treats of the make-up variety.

Starting something new this spring...

Much of my day is spent daydreaming the next make-up look I am going to try or what dessert I shall cook next. Much of my money is spent on new make-up and baking books. Much of free time is spent watching make-up tutorial and beauty video or baking new treats.

So on Skype to my best friends it was suggested I start a beauty blog, when it came down to it I thought why not combine my two favourite things... so I have. And here we go a new journey.
